Anti-Semitism and George Soros' efforts to target the Jewish state - by Dror Eydar

It appears that Soros does not really care much for our support. In that regard, the fight against Soros is also a fight against anti-Semitism.

Over the course of Jewish history, some of our biggest haters have come from within. Hungarian-born U.S. financier George Soros has systematically used his philanthropic activity to undermine important Jewish ideas. This has been especially true in his efforts to target the Jewish state.

Perhaps some of the Israeli organizations he funds are legitimate organizations, but his funds have also been used by those who want to delegitimize Israel and to see that it is no longer defined as a Jewish state.

A comprehensive report by the watchdog NGO Monitor shows that some of the organizations he supports cast Israel as a racist and apartheid state that commits war crimes. They want to isolate Israel in the world and subject it to international sanctions. This activity includes support for the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement.

Documents from Open Society Foundations, a network of organizations that Soros funds to promote his worldview and lobbying activity, were leaked about a year ago, allowing us to get a glimpse into his priorities. "Human rights defense work remains an important priority for the Iran program, but should not be pursued to the exclusion of all other work, including work on supporting better policy outcomes such as support for a nuclear deal with Iran," reads a document from 2014.

Yes, you read that right. Having thousands of Iranians killed by the ayatollahs was just fine as long as the nuclear deal was implemented. This fabulous production, featuring the smiling Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was brought to you by George Soros.

An Israeli journalist took to Twitter on Monday to criticize the Israeli government, slamming it for not coming to Soros' defense in the wake of the anti-Semitic propaganda he has recently faced in Hungary. The journalist said it was as if the Israeli government had chosen not to condemn attacks on synagogues or anti-Jewish measures abroad. He said the Israeli government was undermining Israel's Zionist definition as the state of the Jewish people.

But that journalist has it all wrong. Soros fires daily salvos on Israel, aimed at preventing the Jews from realizing the Zionist vision of a Jewish state in the land of Israel.

Not only does he want to undermine Israeli society, he has apparently tried to meddle in the domestic affairs of other countries, such as Hungary, and has come under fire for doing that. Israel is duty-bound to protect any Jew from anti-Semitism. That is also what the Israeli Foreign Ministry implicitly said this week regarding the attacks on Soros.

But Israel is not obliged to turn the other cheek just so it can defend someone who hates it and wants to undo its Jewish character.

It appears that Soros does not really care much for our support. In that regard, the fight against Soros is also a fight against anti-Semitism.
